Antique Vintage Arabic Middle East Style Hammered Brass Box Made In Germany

Description

This is an antique or vintage Middle Eastern looking hammered brass box.
It is marked on the bottom with a J inside a circle, and REAL BRASS GERMANY.
Given its Arts & Crafts feeling, I would estimate it dates sometime from the 1900s to the 1920s.
The overall box measures 2 5/8 inches tall (6.7 cm). The top measures 6 3/4 inches wide x 5 1/2 inches long (17.1 cm x 14 cm). The box section measures 6 inches wide x 4 3/4 inches long (15.2 cm x 12 cm).
I’m a little confused that a box made in Germany has Middle Eastern writing. Still, it has a great look about it!
The box has scratches, tarnishing and some discoloration. There is a section on the right lower side where the finish has turned green and white. There are some small scattered dents.
The box weighs 15 1/2 ounces (442 g).
