I have a long history in the fragrance industry and am both a member of the International Perfume Bottle Association (IPBA) and an avid collector of vintage and antique scents. My items are smoke-free and guaranteed authentic.
Up for immediate purchase is this elegant, increasingly rare, 1940s vintage, made in France, guaranteed original and authentic Tzigane EMPTY parfum (perfume) bottle in a 0.50
-ounce (1/2 ounce or 15ml) size by the ORIGINAL Corday.
All photos were taken in natural light at
40x magnification
to best highlight overall condition. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured.
This cylindrical, frosted “zigzag” style bottle with glass stopper is clean and in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breakages, or flea bites. Both of its festive red paper labels are intact and readable which is rare for this bottle style. The size label also is present. The base is embossed “Corday.” This bottle design is attributed to Lalique; however this bottle is unmarked. There is still a bit of amber perfume residue clinging to the interior of this bottle. Please note that the stopper is frozen and I am leaving the freeing of it, if desired, to its new owner. This is one of those must-have bottles for the serious Corday collector.
Originally launched in 1937, Tzigane (later marketed under the name “Zigane”) is classified as an aromatic chypre scent and features top notes of
bergamot, orange blossom, lavender, and clary sage; middle notes of
rose, iris, gardenia, carnation and geranium on a base of patchouli, oak moss, cedar, sandalwood, clove, leather, amber, musk, and coumarin.
