Description
Listing is for a pair of self framed Wedgwood jasperware tricolor plaques that depict King George VI and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. George was appointed the Duke of York in 1920 and went to marry in 1923. I imagine this dates to 1923 when they married. Of course he went on to become King in 1936 when his brother abdicated. I would imagine if it was made later, he would be referenced as King instead of Duke.Marked Wedgwood and England with elongated “o” which indicates that it was the work of Bentley, a renowned modeler at Wedgwood from 1890-1937.
Each is 5 1/4” x 4”
No chips identified. There are some hairlines or fractures on each.
